20 minutes a day – 11/9 to 11/15

20min-141109

My darling phone’s cracked screen. :( (Hold up, my blog has emoticons?)

20min-141110

A green forest! Actual forest not that green.

20min-141111

Golf course bunker. I don’t dislike golf.

20min-141112

Not enough time to paint the cactus’ spines.

20min-141113

My cat’s face

20min-141114

OUTLINES! Relapse!

20min-141115

Backpack onna chair

20 minutes a day – 11/2 to 11/8

20min-141102

Face needs work

20min-141103

Chapel of the Chimes, outside

20min-141104

VTA bus stop sign

20min-141105

A park-like place near a CalTrain depot

20min-141106

Tree

20min-141107

Another tree

20min-141108

Several more trees. I’m not good at trees.

20 minutes a day – 10/26 to 11/1

20min-141026

Shack

20min-141027

Pug in costume. Pandering to the sister.

20min-141028

Quaker Oatmeal Square. Buying the 2-pack box was a huge life event.

20min-141029

Rock wall.

20min-141030

Rock walls are fun.

20min-141031

Halloween. I don’t like spiders, but the ones indoors here are harmless.

20 minutes a day – 10/19 to 10/25

20min-141019

I do, in fact, have a horse head mask.

20min-141020

A napkin! How exciting.

20min-141021

Ugliest painted cloudy sunset ever

20min-141022

Got the skin town of this guy down within minutes. Yesssss.

20min-141023

And then totally botched it here.

20min-141024

Had some fun doing a character again

20min-141025

My cat resting on a pile of clothes. Not shown: His bed two feet to the left.

20 minutes a day – 10/12 to 10/18

20min-141013

I tried a hood.

20min-141012

Man outside reading a newspaper

20min-141014

A bowl. Something about the “style” is very familiar, but I don’t know what.

20min-141015

New water bottle! Someone thought it was a thermos and poured hot tea in it the first time around…

20min-141016

Majestic Sea Flap Flap. I lied about not painting animals. Geez these are boring without animals or characters.

20min-141017

Being cool with a staff. He’s been watching some movies.

20min-141018

Spent too long trying to fix the underbite to make this actually resemble the lady.

20 minutes a day – 10/5 to 10/11

20min-141005

As action-packed a scene I can do.

20min-141006

Buildings are not actually blue-green. But they look nice.

20min-141007

Lone cloud. Still no rain for this drought-parched state.

20min-141008

Tired of painting real stuff, I decided to take a break and do a sentient slug with a goblet.

20min-141009

Bluish mess of wires and paints on my desk.

20min-141010

Ha, I don’t care that it doesn’t look like much, because I freehanded a nicely circular circle.

20min-141011

My neighbor has a funny little “rock formation” (actually plastic) in their window. I’m not sure what it’s for.

20 minutes a day – 9/28 to 10/4

20min-140928

A box that isn’t that patriotically colored

20min-140929

Unprimed canvas again – though the brown ground was added before I began the 20 minute limit.

20min-140930

The subject is not Justin Bieber, but it bears a slight resemblance and that annoys me.

20min-141001

Nearby hotel

20min-141002

I’m pretty good at painting humans only if there’s a harsh spotlight on the target.

20min-141003

Rather cute owl Christmas ornament at the store. There were Christmas items on the shelves beginning in September.

20min-141004

Sky is hard. Gosh. No more sky for now.

20 minutes a day – 9/21 to 9/27

20min-140921

Sort of a bookshelf.
20min-140922

Vehicles are difficult. They’re so smooth and shiny.

20min-140923

Apartment on a main road.

20min-140924

Let’s call this abstract, shall we? It’s actually food, but I couldn’t focus on the individual pieces.

20min-140925

The cunning use of flags…

20min-140926

I held food in my mouth for 20 minutes. As gross as it sounds.

20min-140927

My aging, cracking sculpture from an animation course. That was a lot of fun to make, less so to paint.

20 minutes a day – 9/14 to 9/20

20min-140914

Bus seats at around 11pm. From a photo.

20min-140915

Part of a house. The mistake was not priming the canvas. In my sister’s words, “That’s not a painting…” Also, I accidentally saved the image sideways, and it doesn’t really look much worse turned this way.

20min-140916

Some stately grey building.

20min-140917

A musician guy on request. For this human, I allotted 30 minutes, which was enough time to kill it by slathering on white. What a nightmare.

20min-140918

Slightly less white. Still doesn’t resemble the subject, though. She was not pleased.

20min-140919

Same girl. This one made her lament that she must’ve held a bad pose or wasn’t lit properly.

20min-140920

Dryer brushes this time. Also, more purple.

20 minutes a day – 9/7 to 9/13

Intro. I’ve been advised to paint for 20 minutes a day on a piece, no more no less. For the past few months, I’ve learned that the tendency to paint what I’m already good at (i.e. animals) is strong, and my self-control is terrible, so I need something to enforce the painting-a-day.

Thus, I am posting each painting, no matter how awful. I also send pictures to my sister, and if I fail to on a day, I have to go outside and run. It’s a strong incentive to not forget.

20min-140907

I cannot paint buildings, furniture and cars (smooth, manmade stuff). This is part of a building.

20min-140908
Small white dogs are also difficult. Good thing I have one to practice with.

20min-140909
It’s a rectangular light. It’s vaguely light-like. For a while, I couldn’t remember whether I scanned this upside-down.

20min-140910
Wall and cabinet.

20min-140911
My sister requested a pug. I lost her driver’s license. She wants this canvas. I said it’ll cost her forgiveness for the lost license. She has not responded.

20min-140912
Back to boring bedroom.

20min-140913
A French bulldog on request. Someone likes small, wrinkly dogs.
